Add a relationship between contacts
With Relationships, you can link two contacts in Hippo and remember how you know them — family, friends, partners, colleagues, and more. Relationships show up on both contacts, so you only need to add them once.
Add a relationship
- Open Hippo
- Tap the Contacts tab at the bottom
- Tap on the contact you want to link
- Tap the + button and choose Relationship
- Tap Choose… under Person and pick the other contact
- Tap Type and pick a relationship like Parent, Spouse, Colleague, or Friend
- Tap Save
How relationships work
You only add a relationship once. It shows up on both contacts, with the right label for each side. Pick Sibling or Friend and both contacts see the same word. Pick something with two sides like Parent and the other contact will show Child. Mentor becomes Mentee, Manager becomes Report, and so on.
If you remove a relationship from one contact, it's removed from the other too.
Use a custom label
If none of the built-in types fit, pick Custom from the Type picker and type your own label, like Roommate or Book club. Tap Save when you're done.
Change a relationship
- Open one of the two contacts
- Find the relationship under Relationships
- Long-press the relationship and tap Change type…
- Pick a new type and tap Save
Remove a relationship
- Open one of the two contacts
- Swipe from right to left over the relationship you want to remove
- Tap Remove, then confirm
Removing a relationship from one contact also removes it from the other.
