I deeply respect your privacy, so Hippo has a fairly strict and straightforward privacy policy.
It comes down to this:
Depending on the individual settings of your device and the permissions you grant when you install and use the app, Hippo may access data via your device's in-built tools, such as:
Contacts. Hippo can optionally use your address book to suggest people to add to Hippo. Your contacts are never transmitted from your device.
Calendar. Your calendar can optionally be used to suggest events to add to Hippo. Your calendar data is never transmitted from your device.
Camera and photos. You can optionally use the camera of your device or its photos storage to add a photo to Hippo. The contents of your photo storage is never transmitted from your device.
Usage data. Hippo has limited and anonymized usage tracking. It only tracks the types of screens you open. There is no tracking on the content in Hippo. Personal data like IP addresses are anonymized right away. You can opt-out of the tracking in the settings screen of the app.
Support. When you contact me for support, any personal data you may share with me is kept only to research your request and follow up on your case.
Your e-mail address. When you subscribe to the newsletter, your e-mail address is transferred to Mailchimp.
This depends on your synchronization settings. Either way: I cannot see, read, analyze, change or delete your data.
If synchronization is off: When you opt-out of iCloud sync: data will only be stored locally on your device and will not be transmitted anywhere.
If synchronization is on: iCloud sync is used to have your data available across your devices, your data will be transferred to your personal Apple iCloud Drive. I cannot access the data in your private iCloud drive. Your privacy is protected by Apple's privacy policy.
When you opt-in to the newsletter, your email address is collected.
Mailchimp is the vendor I use for newsletters. Your data will be transferred to Mailchimp when you opt-in for a newsletter. Your privacy is safeguarded by Mailchimp's privacy policy for contacts.
You can always unsubscribe from the emails via the unsubscribe link in all communications, or by sending an email to the contact information listed at the bottom.
Choice and consent: By providing personal information to me, you consent to me collecting, holding, using and disclosing your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy. If you are under 16 years of age, you must have, and warrant to the extent permitted by law to me, that you have your parent or legal guardian's permission to access and use the app and they (your parents or guardian) have consented to you providing me with your personal information. You do not have to provide personal information to me, however, if you do not, it may affect your use of the app or the products and/or services offered on or through it.
Restrict: You may choose to restrict the collection or use of your personal information. If you ask me to restrict or limit how I process your personal information, I will let you know how the restriction affects your use of the app or products and services.
Unsubscribe: To unsubscribe from the e-mail database or opt-out of communications (including marketing communications), please contact me using the details below or opt-out using the opt-out facilities provided in the communication.
Access and data portability: You may request a copy of the personal information I hold about you. Where possible, I will provide this information in CSV format or other easily readable machine format. You may request that I erase the personal information I hold about you at any time. You may also request that I transfer this personal information to another third party.
You can delete your data by removing the app from your device. I cannot delete your data for you since it is not stored it on a server, it's only stored on your device and optionally in your personal iCloud drive.

Correction: If you believe that any information I hold about you is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading, please contact me using the details below. I will take reasonable steps to correct any information found to be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or out of date.
Notification of data breaches: I will comply laws applicable to me in respect of any data breach.
Complaints: If you believe that I have breached a relevant data protection law and wish to make a complaint, please contact me using the details below and provide me with full details of the alleged breach. I will promptly investigate your complaint and respond to you, in writing, setting out the outcome of my investigation and the steps I will take to deal with your complaint. You also have the right to contact a regulatory body or data protection authority in relation to your complaint.
The app may link to external sites that are not operated by me. Please be aware that I have no control over the content and policies of those sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy practices.
At my discretion, I may change this privacy policy to reflect current acceptable practices. I will take reasonable steps to let users know about changes via the app or app delivery service. Your continued use of the app after any changes to this policy will be regarded as acceptance of the practices around privacy and personal information.
